Description

North Staffordshire Combined Healthcare NHS Trust is a leading provider of mental health, learning disability, substance misuse and primary care services in the West Midlands. We work from both hospital and community-based premises, operating from circa 30 sites to deliver services to over 460,000 people of all ages and diverse backgrounds in Stoke-on-Trent and across North Staffordshire. Rated ‘Outstanding’ by the CQC we remain focused on our vision to be outstanding – in all we do and how we do it.

Our goal is to improve the health and well-being of our local communities through high-quality, sustainable care. Our Strategy was developed following extensive engagement with Trust staff, service users, and external stakeholders and reflects our commitment to addressing the diverse needs of the North Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent populations while staying true to our values. We are deeply committed to investing in our people to ensure they are able to thrive and be their best authentic selves at work; maintaining the collective pride, inclusion and a sense of belonging that makes our Trust so special.

Reporting directly to our Chief Executive, Dr. Buki Adeyemo, we are seeking an exceptional Chief People Officer to join our board and lead on delivering ‘Our Combined People Plan’. In this pivotal role, you will drive the strategy, priorities, and performance of our Workforce and Organisational Development services, ensuring we are well-positioned to achieve our vision.

As our new Chief People Officer, you will bring significant leadership experience at or close to board level from complex, multi-stakeholder environments in health, social care, or the wider public sector. With a proven track record of shaping organisational culture, enhancing staff engagement, and creating empowering, innovative work environments you will influence effectively at board level and across organisational boundaries.  As an inspirational, values-driven leader you will quickly build trust and strong relationships with clinical and corporate teams, service users and partners. A deep commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion will underpin your leadership, ensuring our workforce reflects the communities we serve.

This is a truly exceptional opportunity to join our outstanding organisation as we continue to progress and make a meaningful difference for our people and the populations we serve.

The Trust is committed to ensuring that a diverse workforce is representative and inclusive at all levels. We would very much welcome applications from all under-represented groups including women, people with disabilities, people from global majority backgrounds, and those from the lesbian, gay, bi and trans communities.
